The Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office is responsible for carrying out state duties and ensuring professional cooperation regarding cultural heritage protection and the development and preservation of the built environment. Meeting owner expectations, these tasks are most efficiently completed by the background institution of the Prime Minister’s Office, in collaboration with the Deputy State Secretariat for Architecture and Construction.

With its expertise, the Directorate for Cultural Heritage Protection of Lechner Knowledge Centre Non-profit Ltd. supports the Government’s policy regarding the built environment and the completion of state duties related to cultural heritage protection. By doing so, the Directorate contributes to the protection of the nation’s cultural values and the preservation of the Hungarian architectural culture and values, by  improving the built environment and the attitudes to architectural quality.

Accordingly, the Directorate for Cultural Heritage Protection gives professional, expert aid for the preparation of government measures and associated registration authority activities related to national cultural heritage protection, as well as carrying out central budget subsidies executive tasks related to the preservation and development of the architectural heritage.
