Short description of project:

The main objectives of the project are to design and develop a comprehensive central government land information database, to make detailed, up-to-date earth observation data easily accessible for the public sector’s administrative units, the private sector, as well as the Hungarian society. The aim of the project, which is part of the Copernicus - The European Earth Observation Programme, is to create a unified and integrated system providing up-to-date satellite earth observation data that is useful for public administration and society.

Project scope:

  • design and develop a database with legal and cadastral data linked with agricultural cultivation information, to be used as a base to monitor production of grassland and crop structure;
  • support the design for updating the Hungarian Land Parcel Identification System and database population.

Lechner activities are:

  • develop and populate the land imagery database (orthophotos database) – through the image extraction and digitization from the European Earth Observation Information System (FIR);
  • design and develop a tailored legal and cadastre database for cultivation monitoring purpose;
  • develop a tailored land imagery runtime environment, and carry out thematic system evaluation for Quality Control;
  • produce thematic agricultural cultivation/ subsidy result maps;
  • support for the Hungarian Land Parcel Identification System (MePAR) and the Control of Agricultural Subsidies with Remote Sensing (TámEll) with pre-processed space imagery (BFKH);
  • design and produce drought and in-land water GIS database, including legal and cadastral data layers;
  • produce grassland and crop structure GIS layers for the Land Parcel Information system.
