Modern e-government practices both require and stimulate the utilization of data related to spatial location (spatial data) in completing state, municipality and authority tasks, which makes it essential to introduce a new, spatial approach to governmental IT solutions.

The most efficient tool to achieve this is the integrated processing of built environment-related 2D and 3D spatial data and natural environment-related spatial data registers, making them available for public administration purposes through spatial services. Related activities include:

  • producing and obtaining spatial data
  • quality controlling spatial data
  • processing spatial data
  • creating spatial databases
  • analyzing spatial data
  • visualizing spatial data
  • regularly updating spatial data

These tasks are carried out by the Directorate of Spatial Services, operating since 2015 according to the following organizational structure:

  • Division of Spatial Experts and Spatial Data
    • Department of Spatial Planning Experts
    • Department of Spatial Data
  • Division of Technology and Planning
    • Department of 3D Construction Methodology
    • Department of Planning and Engineering
  • Division of Earth Observation Operative Center
    • Department of Photogrammetry
    • Department of Earth Surface Monitoring
    • Department of Space Remote Sensing
